I hate confessing any of this, having thought I was well beyond the grasp of the likes of melancholy, and let’s be honest, our world places a high value on staying positive. Sometimes, telling yourself to stay positive doesn’t work. Melancholy also can’t be distracted by television, it doesn’t go away when you sleep all day or spend more time on the computer. You can feel pretty defeated just wondering how the hell to scrape it off the bottom of your shoe
