Don’t Believe Everything You Think
Sometimes, it’s wrong to be right
“Was I overreacting?” I asked myself. “Was I being too sensitive? Was I insisting that I was right? Was he right that I was acting crazy?”
The mind is a web of distorted interpretations, feeding negative beliefs that can leave a person feeling defeated, angry, and overwhelmed. It clouds the perception of reality.
The other day, I came across a bumper sticker that read, “Don’t believe everything you think.” And that got me thinking that it’s not always wise to trust our thoughts as the ultimate truth. It can be easy to fall into this trap that we feel that we are always correct.
I don’t think it means disregarding all our thoughts but approaching them cautiously and not believing everything we think.
Some individuals are relentless in their pursuit of being right, no matter the cost. We’ve all come across such individuals. They reject defeat with an enthusiastic determination, even when faced with irrefutable evidence contradicting their beliefs, ensuring the other party surrenders to their argument.
We see it everywhere — on social media, politics, and relationships.
But at what cost?
