Institutionalizing intolerance was once the domain of the politically correct and self-righteous. No longer. Unfortunately, if we allow intolerance and put barricades on freedom of speech, we’re going to soon find that we have no rights to speak, to assemble, to agree, to disagree, (well, you get the point).
Just look around you and see how freedom of speech eats away at the fiber of the foundation this country was built on. On college campuses across the country, speakers whose views are deemed “offensive” to some of the student body are having their invitations recalled or cancelled, being shouted down by hecklers, or forced to hire costly security details. There’re so many more examples but I’ll stop here, because I can feel my angst escalating.
