I’m not sure, but the lighting of candles for Hanukkah fits the context of the surrounding torchlight honors for the sun.
I vaguely recall someone objecting that Hanukkah cannot be considered a solstice festival because
it follows the lunar cycle rather than the solar cycle.
Hanukkah's timing during the darkest time of year may not be a mere coincidence (me think) but rather a deliberate choice. Lighting the candles can symbolize our unwavering hope for the return of light and the chance for fresh starts.
