A couple days ago, Anna Soldenhoff left a comment on one of my poems (“Three Clocks”) from last year, specifically mentioning the line I started this story with. “[This] Would be a great starting point for a long story,” she said. I said I would give it a go. I rather enjoyed myself, although, of course, the sound of the inner critic that Sara’s dealing with is a real life challenge. That inner critic which can suck so much joy out of us, mercifully, is not usually able to manifest outside of us. Though maybe that would make it easier to shut the noise off.
