DEATH/POEM
My Sweet Angel
You were here. Now, you are not.
My friend just passed away. I am broken up about it. This is my tribute to her.
I will not weep for you, for your strength drawn
since your first breath of life;
I remember you.
I will not weep for you, for your body has failed,
but your soul lives on in my heart,
And now you’re free to chase the wind,
Your beautiful hair flowing in your wake,
Sailing on a cloud
Out of a restless, careworn life
Into the brightest of days.
You are the thousand winds that blow
For it is there between the sky
And boundless clouds of blue
You are the diamond sparkles in the dark
You are the sunlight on ripened grain,
a gentle autumn rain.
Deep within the vastness
Of quiet birds in orbiting flight,
I see a glistening star
Always and forever,
I will remember you.
