Time is valuable. It takes time to create money. It takes time to love; it takes time to hate someone, to shower, to get dressed. We speak of clock time and summertime, good times and bad times, of the right time, of a time that flies and a time that takes its toll.

Thomas Edison said, “Time is the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing he can’t afford to lose.”

Suddenly we feel like we are behind bars

We are facing an age of new, and mounting challenges to human health. Our normal patterns of life have been significantly severed in the last couple of weeks, creating a new chronological order, a social distancing. We are severed from all that is familiar, from the sights and smells of everyday life akin to what prisoners experience. But unlike prison life, which is wholly routinized and restricted, we have complete freedom within our homes. We don’t have to adhere to a certain time. We don’t have to respond to specific commands.
